Fasteners are driven through clips into the roof deck but do not pierce the metal panels. These panels are installed with concealed fasteners from eave to ridge and over a solid substrate. Capped on seam also known as the circular lap seam the capped on seam is created by laying a flat round piece of metal over a smaller rounded piece such as the base of a cylinder. The minimum slope for lapped non soldered seam metal roofs without applied lap sealant shall be three units vertical in 12 units horizontal 25 percent slope.

Lap seam metal roofing systems typically consist of a 22 26 gauge corrugated or flat metal panel that is formed in a factory or on site and installed with or without insulation batts directly to structural purlins. There are four basic standing seam metal roof panel styles. The edges and ends of overlapping metal roofing panels are sealed with a butyl adhesive tape or other sealants. The absence of exposed fasteners and the weather tight side lap allow for applications on roof pitches as low as a 3 12.

When laying the metal panels on the roof the overlap ridge of the new panel should straddle the underlap ridge of the panel before it. You would probably want to get at least 2 3 feet long panels for splicing.

This is ideal for lapping because the sealant stays sticky rather than hardening. Lap seams are often used to connected two ends to make a cylinder and are used in making boilers auto bodies wall panels metal sculpture and metal roofing. The minimum slope for lapped non soldered seam metal roofs with applied lap sealant shall be one half unit vertical in 12 units horizontal 4 percent slope. The integral locking seam is held in place by concealed metal clips and is installed over a waterproof solid substrate.

Ssmrs can be attached to roof decks via clips or with a fastening flange. The metal roof allows for snow and ice to slide off easily preventing damage from freeze and thaw cycles. Metal sealing and fastening apply side lap sealant if the pitch of your roof is 2 12 or less. Fastenings are concealed on these panels hence the reason the profile is commonly called concealed fastener. You will also need at least a foot of overlap on each panel.
