Additional abilities are unlocked as experience is gained. I don t know if they are going to add repair ability to them now that there is an engineer class but i agree that it would be nice. I did some searching and a lot of information is from older versions. I just need to get an engineer up to it.

If the part is gone then its gone. So you re not doing anything wrong it s just not an option. Ok so if your here its probably too late sorry because this method is all about planning in advanced. The solar panel in question is still attached to the ship it just reads broken.

It would also be nice if engineers could refold the caseless solar panels while on eva. I read that pilots get sas and navball markers scientists collect more data and can reset science modules in eva and engineers can supposedly repair stuff. Maybe not a full repair but an l4 or l5 can maybe jury rig something out of the broken smashed parts to give solar panel repaired that is 25 30 capability of an undamaged one. I have no idea if this will work but try sending an engineer kerbal to that craft. Engineer is a specialization assigned to kerbonauts. Engineers can repair broken parts and repack parachutes. This is for stations with large tracking solar arrays not the small single ones.
