Antenna motor is grinding broken yes your antenna motor is still running because it hasn t realized that the antenna is all the way down or up and need to stop. The switch is constructed with a flat metal disc with a gap which is riveted or bolted to a plastic gear at the middle. I really don t notice that sound. I get a grinding noise.

The grinding noise you hear is due to the mechanical slip clutch. Pop the covers of the overhead cabin light by pulling down on each end of the plastic cover the side which meets the middle border between the two plastic covers lenses. The cold at night was making the framing beams to expand and contract causing an annoying rhythmic ticking noise. The noise is the gears grinding.

The roofing company used screws throughout the roof to help. Turns out the drywall wasn t secured properly to an exterior wall. Since i first tried using it it has made a very loud grinding noise and has difficulty finding the satellites. Here is my story.

For anyone who needs to access the base of their onstar antenna on the interior side of the roof here is how. It sometimes takes 3 or 4 resets before it will work and sometimes it won t work at all. If it s electronics you need to locate it and filter it at the source.
