Install Roof Vent No Shingles

Your roofer will build this frame just a little larger than size of the vent leaving 1 8 inch of extra room on each side.

Installation first requires a wood frame made of 2x4s installed from the attic between two studs. Hammer down any large nails that are exposed by the removal. To vent the roof holes are cut in the old roof above the soffit which pulls air through the soffit vents underneath. Next install your vent or stack flashing over that row of shingles photo 13.

Fasten the vent to the roof decking and rafters or trusses by nailing through the flange on both sides of the vent using the nails and nail spacing recommended by the manufacturer. Rather than being installed on the roof gable vents are installed on the exterior side wall of the home near the roof ridge. Seal the top nail holes and continue on up with your shingles. Cover the entire flange with shingles to integrate it better into the roof.

Using the example above three round vents would be needed 432 144 3 vents or nine square vents 432 50 8 64 or 9 vents.
